US Embassy Orders Staff in Israel to Stay Indoors

(MENAFN) The United States Embassy in Israel instructed all American government personnel and their relatives on Tuesday to shelter in place "until further notice" amid mounting tension with Iran.

The mission declared it would remain shut on Tuesday, explaining the closure was "given the security situation and in compliance with Israel Home Front Command guidance."

It also stressed, "The U.S. Embassy is not in a position at this time to evacuate or directly assist Americans in departing Israel."

The announcement underlined that Ben Gurion Airport is still shut, with no commercial or charter flights in operation, and that Israel’s seaports are likewise closed.

Hostilities have intensified since Friday, when Israel conducted coordinated airstrikes and drone assaults on several Iranian sites—including military and nuclear installations—prompting Tehran to unleash retaliatory attacks.
