BIBF kicks off strong as, featuring Chianese, international selections of books
The fair will run through June 22, with Malaysia honored as this year’s guest country.
More than 1,700 exhibitors are participating, including publishing giants such as Springer Nature, Penguin Random House, and Wiley, who are presenting a wide range of foreign-language publications. Over 20 nations, including France, Germany, and Japan, have established national stands to promote their literary output and cultural exchange.
Senior Chinese official Li Shulei, a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, attended the fair to survey developments in the publishing sector.
This year’s event places special emphasis on digital publishing, with major Chinese tech companies like Tencent, Douyin, and NetEase showcasing their latest achievements in online literature, interactive media, and gaming — signaling the fair's growing focus on multimedia storytelling and digital transformation in reading habits.
The BIBF continues to serve as a bridge for international literary exchange, publishing cooperation, and innovation in the global book industry.
