Iran, Russia Conduct Joint Maritime Drill in Caspian Sea

(MENAFN) Iranian and Russian naval forces are set to commence a joint maritime drill in the Caspian Sea on Monday, a three-day operation aimed at enhancing regional security and cooperation.

The exercise, dubbed "CASAREX2025," is being led by the Iranian Navy's Northern Fleet, according to a statement issued via the Iranian army's official news platform.

The announcement stated that warships from both nations will participate in the joint operation, which seeks to bolster maritime safety and strengthen collaborative ties among navies bordering the Caspian Sea.

In addition to the regular navy, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) naval division—operating independently from the main naval command—will also be involved in the drill. Iranian police forces are slated to take part as well.

Several Caspian littoral nations are expected to attend as observers, though no specific countries were named.
