Ukraine Claims Russian Su-27 Jet Engulfed in Krasnodar Airfield Fire

(MENAFN) A Russian Su-27UB fighter jet was reportedly engulfed in flames at the Armavir airfield in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai on Saturday, according to a claim by Ukraine’s military intelligence agency.

In a Telegram post, Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) stated the aircraft—used primarily for cadet instruction at the Krasnodar Aviation School—was destroyed during the blaze at the military facility.

While the statement did not specify what triggered the fire, HUR framed the incident as indicative of mounting domestic unrest against the Kremlin.

“Resistance to the Kremlin regime inside Russia is growing,” the statement said. “Every crime committed against the Ukrainian people will receive just retribution."

The agency also reported that nearby residents experienced communication blackouts following the fire.

As of now, Russian officials have not issued any response or confirmation regarding the incident.

The Su-27UB is a two-seat version of the Su-27 fighter, designed for pilot training but fully capable of engaging in combat.
